The email to members about this had the wrong date, this happened yesterday, July 18, not July 17 as reported in the email.

This afternoon and tonight (tuesday) one of the new servers in the 126.96.36.199 pool
(the smtp.easydns.com cluster) got seriously out of sync with the rest of the cluster and caused spurious “relay denied” errors on some of the inbound mail that hit that particular server.
We’ve pulled that host out of the pool and are currently trying to review what exactly happened. The rest of the mail pool is functioning normally.
We’ll be sending out an explanatory email to all affected users later today
In the meantime, we are very sorry about this.
