On 21 August 2025, ICANN updated the Registration Data Policy (RDP), which changes how your domain contact information is collected and stored.
Moving forward, this industry-wide policy change means registrars will be collecting and retaining a minimum (& mandatory) amount of data for domains. In most cases, domains will only need the name, address, country, email, and phone details. The Organization field will become optional—if filled, the organization will be considered the legal domain owner (instead of the person named). This will mean the end of collecting & storing the administrative, technical and billing contacts for most TLDs (top-level domains).
Now is a good time to review your domain’s whois record(s) and make any updates if needed.
