If you’ve logged into your easyDNS member area recently, you got an option to switch to the updated theme already.
You can switch right away or wait until November 1st when it will replace the current and somewhat outdated theme.
Why The Update?
Partially the update came about because of the new design of the easydns.com front end, to keep navigating between the front and backend seamless.
Another reason was to make it easier to update your DNS settings on mobile devices when you’re on the go.
How is it different?
Functionally it’s exactly the same. The main difference is, the design changed from horizontal to vertical. The colours also got updated.
What if I want to keep using the old theme?
Get your fill in now as the old theme will be going away on November 1st. The reason for the “hard switch” is to keep the user experience seamless along with the documentation.
The new theme has been running in beta for quite a while but it’s well beyond that now. All the bugs we’re aware of have been squashed. It’s ready for prime time!
The technology of the old theme is also outdated and has limited capabilities for new features so it’s more logical to retire it than to try and maintain two different themes.
What’s my next step?
The sooner you jump in, the sooner you’ll get a feel for the new look. We suggest you log into your account and look around. Give us your feedback too, we’d love to hear from you.

Great job with the new design.
My only question with the UI is, after looking at a domain, it becomes ‘sticky’ to the extent that I cannot see how to return to focussing on no domain. I assumed clicking the easyDNS logo, or, clicking ‘Member Home’ in the ‘Member Home :: example.com’ text top/left that looks like a breadcrumb nav, would return me to how I saw the interface when I logged in—no domain selected.
This may sound silly, but it’s ‘comforting’ to be able to return from selecting a domain to selecting no domain as one of the biggest fears I always have when administering domains is having the wrong domain selected in the top, not noticing, and making the change I intended for another domain.
Not yet done it, but came close once or twice with the old interface.
This aside, I love the new design and thanks for all the hard work 🙂
