Tonight the easyDNS sysAdmins will be moving “mx-caprica.easydns.com” (64.68.200.71) between data centres between 8pm EDT and 11pm EDT. During this timeframe, email relayed via customer mailmaps will be delayed, as the server will be inaccessible. External mailservers should by their very nature hold on to email and attempt to relay it over the course of 24-48 hours, but as the downtime is expected to last no longer than three hours, emails will appear to be delayed. Backup mailspooling will also be affected, but to a lesser extent, as the external mailservers will be spooling the email themselves, and then passing it on to “mx-caprica.easydns.com”.
We apologise for the late notice and inconvenience with regards to this move, but it is necessary for our infrastructure going forward. It should be noted that NO IP ADDRESSES WILL BE CHANGING. Aside from this short downtime, the service should otherwise be uninterrupted.
[Update – 2014-07-31 @ 12:50pm EDT] The maintenance was completed at 11:36pm EDT, and normal service has been restored. As always, we thank you for your patience!
