As a follow-up to our UK based clients who own a .EU domain.

At present, there isn’t a determined date of Brexit yet firmly established. Until that time, easyDNS will continue to take new orders and renewals for . EU domains that contain a GB or GI country code but we aware that without complying to the new requirements as the result of Brexit, you will lose the domain at the registry level.

We recommend you take a proactive approach to your .EU domain, as once the Brexit date is confirmed, there will be a 60 day period after to make changes. Failing an update to satisfy new requirements of EU status, the domain will fail to resolve and enter into a ‘Withdrawn’ status. Once in Withdrawn status, then registrants will need to work with the .EU registry directly \[EURid\] to reactivate it and this we’re being told will be a lengthy process.

We strongly recommend clients who have a current .EU with the GB or GI code to update the address to be in one of the remaining EU states. There is also the option of a third-party lease service too. Another option is registering another domain \[UK, .COM, .ORG, etc\] to replace your .EU.

To confirm your information and domain status, please visit the .EU registry whois at <https://eurid.eu/en/whois/>

For more information and how this directly affects your domain, please contact our support department \[<support@easydns.com>\].

**Update \[09 May 2019\]:** As most know, Brexit has been agreed by the UK and the EU to delay until 31 October 2019. There may be a deal struck prior to this date but until then, the .EU Registry will continue to operate business as usual.
