Following on the heels of our earlier unveiling of [tweet2txt](http://www.tweet2txt.com), I thought I’d mention 2 new features of the new platform that I think our members will agree are long welcome additions: Instant DNS activation for new domains and optional 301 Redirects for URL forwarding.

1\) **Instant DNS activation for new domains**. As soon as you pay the invoice, the domain is live on the nameservers. No more “wait a few hours for all of the nameservers to pick up the new domain in their configs”. It happens *immediately.*

Kinda cool, especially if you’ve got a “hair on fire” situation where your DNS provider is down (not us, I would hope) and you want to get up and running elsewhere (preferably here) *fast.* Now that many of the roots update in realtime, [you can be up and running with easyDNS as your new DNS provider in under 5 minutes.](https://easydns.com/dns/)

2\) **Optional 301 header for URL forwarding.** We could do this on the old system but it required manual intervention and you had to open up a ticket with support to ask for it. Now you can just check the handy “301” checkbox and we’ll URL forward as a 301 Redirect (moved permanently) instead of the default 302 “found”.

Depending on your requirements, there are reasons you would want to use one or the other.
